Minority Retort with Thenesh & Luwita

If you have a penchant for local stand-up comedy and have loved every single Kavin Jay, Andrew Netto, Douglas Lim and Jason Leong show ... how about some fresh blood?

This weekend, comedy freshmen Thenesh Skip and Luwita Randhawa will come together for sixty minutes of fresh comedy.

Dubbed the protégé of Malaysian stand-up comedy (mostly because he's only 24-years old), Thenesh Skip has performed alongside many talented comedians such as Daniel Kinno, Brendan Burns, David Smidth and Douglas Lim. Thenesh may seem like a shy and soft-spoken introvert but comes to his own onstage - earning him a spot at the Comedy Club KL show in November 2014. Earlier this year, he was part of the line-up in Time Out KL’s comedy showcase at the Cooler Lumpur Festival as well as the inaugural week-long LOL Fest, both held at Publika.

In January 2012, Thenesh Skip and Luwita Hana Randhawa popped their stand-up cherries at the very same Comedy Kao Kao show at The Bee, Publika. They performed their first three minutes of stand up ever together and now, three and a half years down the road, they’re reuniting for their very first show together.

After winning the Best Female Newcomer Award at the 2012 Short+Sweet Malaysia Stand Up Comedy Festival, Luwita Randhawa has come to be one of only a few emerging female open micers in the local comedy scene. Earlier this year, she was shortlisted as one of the top 5 female stand-up comic in Joanne Kam's search for a protege. She performed her first solo show, Nothing to be Done, at the 2014 New Zealand Fringe Festival and has also performed at shows in Sydney, London and New York.

Without too much investigation and a peruse through the Facebook events listing for the show reveals, already funnily, the inspiration for the show's name and play on the word Minority, "Full-blown Indian Thenesh Skip teams up with Malay-Punjabi hybrid Luwita Hana Randhawa to deliver an hour-long show hosted by Chindian Gajen Nad. Hairy Indian jokes are limited to one per comic". The Retort speaks for itself.

Tunggu apa lagi, bro?
